See how these traditional candies are made by taking a guided tour around the factories in Calvillo.
Traditional Aguascalientes candy is mainly made from crystalized fruit and vegetables.
There is quite a variety of candy to be found, all quite unique, meaning the translations just give an approximate idea; they include piloncillo, jamoncillos (pumpkin-seed cream candy), trompadas (cinnamon candy), charrascas (anise or mint candy), charamuscas (candy roll), cajetas de leche (caramel), gorditas de cuajada (cottage cheese gorditas), and ate de membrillo (guava preserve or paste). Rich, scented guava is the base of so many sweet things, including pastes, rolls and syrups.
You can find them at any of the traditional candy stores around the state.
