Festival of Señor del Salitre
One of this community’s most important traditions is the festival in honor of its patron saint “El Señor del Salitre”, whose history began with the founding of the town.
Attend the traditional fair which takes place in the main square, along with other events for the whole family.

At the fair don’t forget to try the delicious food and the wonderful guava pastries and cakes, so typical of the region.
The Señor del Salitre Festival celebrates the patron saint of Calvillo Pueblo Mágico, and is the town’s most important event. It takes place on the fourth Thursday after lent, which is Ascension Day or Maundy Thursday.
In the main streets you can see several altars created by the local population to worship their patron saint, as well as a range of pilgrimages, masses and other religious activities.
